About Me

Colin McMahon Photography, Liverpool.

My name is Icilda Steele. I’m originally from Cheshire in the UK, and I moved to Trafford in the early 2000s. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived in many parts of Britain, and have spent a considerable amount of time living overseas.  Despite having a background in social work and business management, art has always played a significant role in my life.

My diverse professional experience and my personal interior design, carpentry, and sketching have enriched my artistic expression and have expanded my perception.

My abstract paintings are created innately through my engagement with the canvas. They are completely instinctive, pulsating with energy that is layered in elaborate movement.

Although I have been influenced by the works of artists such as Bridget Riley and Jackson Pollack, research into my ancestry has revealed generations of creatives, art is clearly in my genes.  Living overseas meant that a wide range of cultural experiences have enhanced my influence on art. The purpose of my work is to evoke feelings and emotion, opening your own interpretations.

Some of my original Canvas pieces have been  exhibited in Editions Art Gallery in Liverpool UK.
